The new top postgraduate program of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) with a duration of 1 year and entirely distance learning, focusing on educators, is making waves in the education sector. The program, offered by the Department of Theology, the Pedagogical Department of Secondary Education, and the Department of Philology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in collaboration with the European Wergeland Centre, focuses on the intersection of identity, education, and skills necessary for a democratic society.
With three specializations available – Religion, Education, and Competences for Democratic Culture; Language, History, and Literature in Education and Competences for Democratic Culture; and Education for Democratic Citizenship – the program awards a Master’s Degree upon completion.
Eligibility for the program is open to educators, future educators, and trainers from various educational backgrounds. The program accepts graduates from relevant departments of universities, as well as graduates from related fields of study from recognized institutions. The program has a limited number of spots, with 100 students per specialization and a total of 300 students overall.
The application process involves submitting documents through the EKPA eprotocol platform and sending additional documents to the program’s email address. The selection process is based on various criteria, including academic performance, relevance of the degree to the program, language proficiency, publications, and professional experience.
The program comes with a tuition fee of 3,400 euros, payable in installments, with an additional registration fee of 750 euros. Scholarships and fee exemptions are available for eligible students. The program also offers opportunities for free education for a percentage of enrolled students based on specific criteria.
