Ford has recently unveiled the updated model of the Police Interceptor Utility for the year 2025. This new model comes equipped with the latest Vehicle Integration System 2.0 and Police Perimeter Alert system as standard features. Ford Pro Police Vehicles continue to be the top-selling police cars in the United States.
One of the key highlights of the updated model is the introduction of a hybrid version, aimed at helping law enforcement agencies reduce fuel costs. The hybrid system is designed to provide electricity to onboard equipment even when the engine is turned off, resulting in significant fuel savings of up to 3,182 liters per year and reducing costs by approximately $17,500 over six years of operation. The hybrid powertrain has become a popular choice among police departments for long periods of idling during patrols.
Police departments have the option to choose from three available powertrains for the Police Interceptor Utility 2025. The hybrid version features a 3.3-liter V6 engine with direct injection, delivering 318 horsepower and 437 Nm of torque. Additionally, there is a non-hybrid 3.3-liter V6 option with 285 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque, as well as a top-of-the-line 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost engine producing 400 horsepower and 563 Nm of torque.
Safety is a top priority for Ford, and the Police Interceptor Utility is designed to withstand rear impact crash tests at speeds of up to 120 km/h, ensuring the safety of officers on the road. The vehicles now come standard with the Police Perimeter Alert system, which detects approaching threats and automatically activates the rear camera, emits an audible alert, raises the windows, and locks the doors, allowing officers inside to monitor their surroundings.
The Police Engine Idle system allows officers to unlock the vehicle and take the keys with them while leaving the engine running to power onboard equipment in case of a quick exit from the vehicle. Ford Pro Police Vehicles also offer ballistic panels for the front doors, providing Level III+ or IV+ protection. Level III+ panels can withstand shots from multiple handguns and non-armor-piercing bullets, while Level IV+ panels protect officers from armor-piercing bullets.
Standard driver assistance technologies include automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, reverse braking, and rear cross-traffic braking. The new standard 12.5-inch LCD digital instrument cluster with a certified speedometer provides increased accuracy during operation. The manual Police Pursuit Mode allows officers to switch to a high-performance configuration without taking their hands off the wheel.
The Ford Police Interceptor Utility 2025 is manufactured at the Chicago Assembly Plant in Chicago, Illinois. It is available in variants such as the F-150 Police Responder 2024, Expedition MAX SSV, and Transit Prisoner Transport Vehicle. With its advanced features, safety enhancements, and fuel-efficient hybrid option, the Ford Police Interceptor Utility continues to set the standard for police vehicles in the United States.
