The Region of Abruzzo is launching new three-year qualification courses and fourth-year IeFP (education and vocational training) courses funded as part of the PNRR and FSE Plus programming. Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 2nd, training organizations can submit projects for basic training for young people who choose not to continue their studies through the Region of Abruzzo’s online platform. The IeFP notice funds a total of 17 courses, with 13 related to three-year qualification paths and 4 courses for the fourth year.
Roberto Santangelo, the Education Councillor, emphasizes the significance of this opportunity, stating that the Region is approving 17 courses with an unprecedented financial commitment of 4 million euros. This initiative aims to provide families and young people with a wide range of basic training options to make a more informed choice aligned with the individual’s skills and future employment prospects.
The three-year IeFP courses are primarily designed to combat school dropout rates and are targeted at young people aged 14 to 25. They serve as a means to fulfill educational obligations for those who have completed compulsory education with a lower secondary school diploma and do not intend to pursue traditional studies. On the other hand, the fourth-year IeFP courses cater to those who have already completed the three-year program and need to enhance their qualifications.
Santangelo highlights the interconnectedness between education and training through the IeFP courses, paving the way for higher education offered by the six Higher Technical Institutes (ITS) in Abruzzo, also funded by FSE. This cohesive framework allows families to plan alternative training paths for their children after lower secondary school, leading to the acquisition of skills and easier entry into the workforce.
Furthermore, specific incentives are provided for training programs targeting professional figures in sectors related to regional ITS (textile-clothing, food production, construction, mechanics, transport logistics, and tourism services) to ensure a seamless transition from basic to higher education. Training organizations can submit IeFP projects by October 12, 2024, by uploading proposals and required documentation on the Region of Abruzzo’s digital platform at sportello.regione.abruzzo.it.
In conclusion, the launch of these new qualification courses and vocational training opportunities in Abruzzo signifies a commitment to providing diverse educational pathways for young people, enhancing their skills, and facilitating their integration into the workforce. The Region’s investment in education and training reflects a forward-thinking approach to meet the evolving needs of the labor market and empower the next generation with the tools for success.
