Seven people in North Texas are facing charges after Grapevine police uncovered a massive auto theft ring that targeted high-end vehicles worth over $9.3 million. The investigation began in 2023 when detectives noticed a spike in vehicle thefts in Grapevine. Through surveillance footage, crime bulletins, and social media posts, detectives were able to track the stolen vehicles and identify several suspects involved in the thefts.
In March, police executed search warrants at homes in Dallas and Garland, leading to the arrest of seven individuals. Jeremiah Jose Morel, Cristian Jose Morel Jr., Gavin Marcelino Correa, Dylan Anthony Correa, Kevin Oates, Jose Ramon Perez, and Henry Actwood Jr. are all facing charges of engaging in organized criminal activity. Police are also working to have federal charges filed against the suspects.
The auto theft ring primarily targeted Dodge Chargers, Dodge Challengers, and Chevrolet Camaros. However, other vehicles such as a Chevrolet Corvette sports car and a Dodge Durango SUV were also reported stolen by the group. Each of the men facing charges has been released from jail after posting bond.
Attorneys for some of the suspects have declined to comment, while others have emphasized the need for a fair and just resolution. Tiffany Burks, who is representing Perez, stated that large-scale investigations can sometimes result in innocent individuals being arrested. She urged the public to withhold judgment until all the facts are heard.
