Malaysia’s Real Estate Developers Shine at FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards
Local developers in Malaysia have once again proven their capabilities and commitment to excellence by winning gold awards at the prestigious FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards. The Housing and Local Government Minister, Nga Kor Ming, praised the 21 Malaysian real estate developers who have collectively won 35 gold awards between 2014 and 2024. This international recognition not only showcases the talent and dedication of local developers but also highlights Malaysia’s position on the global real estate stage.
The FIABCI awards are often likened to the „Oscars“ of real estate, and winning one is a significant achievement. Nga emphasized that these awards demonstrate Malaysia’s ability to provide sustainable and world-class standard housing, putting local developers on par with leading developers worldwide. Malaysia first won a FIABCI award in 1995 and has continued to receive recognition every year since then, showcasing the country’s consistent commitment to excellence in the real estate sector.
In the most recent awards ceremony held in Singapore, Malaysian developers secured six gold awards out of 14 categories. The winning projects included SkyAwani 3 Residences Project by SkyWorld Development Bhd in the Affordable Housing category, Tamarind Square Project by Tujuan Gemilang Sdn Bhd in the Mixed-Use Development category, and Parc3 @ KL South by Eupe Corp Bhd in the Residential (High-Rise) category, among others. These awards highlight the diversity and quality of real estate projects in Malaysia, ranging from affordable housing to high-end residential and commercial developments.
Nga expressed his hope that with the government’s recognition and support, more local developers will strive for excellence in the real estate sector, both domestically and internationally. He encouraged aspiring developers to adopt good practices that focus on quality, sustainability, and innovation. By promoting a culture of excellence within the industry, Nga believes that developers can deliver better outcomes for homebuyers and elevate the overall professionalism of the real estate sector.
The minister also addressed the issue of abandoned projects in the industry, stating that the award winners have proven their worth through a rigorous selection process involving multiple stages and judges. He emphasized the importance of changing negative perceptions and elevating the industry’s reputation through continued excellence and professionalism.
In a significant announcement, Nga revealed that Malaysia will host the Asean Property Summit in Kuala Lumpur next year. This event will bring together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders from across the region to discuss, innovate, and collaborate on the future of real estate in Asean. It will be a platform for sharing best practices, fostering partnerships, and driving growth and development in the real estate sector.
Overall, Malaysia’s success at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards is a testament to the talent, innovation, and dedication of local developers. By continuing to strive for excellence and embracing good practices, Malaysia’s real estate industry is poised for further growth and recognition on the global stage.
