The Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) 2.0 is a government initiative aimed at providing diesel subsidies to public transport and commercial vehicle owners. However, according to Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh, around 180,000 commercial vehicles have not yet registered under this system. This means that many owners are missing out on the opportunity to benefit from the government’s diesel subsidy.
Fuziah Salleh has urged owners of these vehicles to promptly submit their applications to ensure they can take advantage of the subsidy. She emphasized that even owners with one, two, or three vehicles are eligible to apply, as long as they fall under the 23 specified categories. The registration process is not limited to owners with a large fleet of vehicles, and all eligible owners should take advantage of this opportunity.
Companies can submit their applications for SKDS 2.0 at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my and subsequently apply for a fleet card from their chosen oil company. Public transport and commercial vehicle owners who have received SKDS approval but have not yet received a fleet card are advised to keep diesel purchase receipts for cash refund claims with the Finance Ministry.
In response to the Penang Refuse Lorries Association’s request to include Rigid Roll-On Roll-Off (RORO) lorries in the MySubsidi Diesel system, Fuziah Salleh stated that the government currently maintains a list of 33 eligible types of public transport and commercial vehicles. For vehicles that do not fall under these categories, owners can submit an appeal for consideration by the appeal committee. Fuziah Salleh emphasized the importance of formalizing concerns in writing and organizing engagement sessions between the association and the ministry to find the best solutions.
Overall, it is crucial for owners of public transport and commercial vehicles to register under the SKDS 2.0 system to benefit from the government’s diesel subsidy. By taking advantage of this opportunity, owners can save on fuel costs and contribute to a more sustainable and efficient transportation system. Owners are encouraged to submit their applications promptly and seek assistance if needed to ensure they do not miss out on this valuable opportunity.
