Agents of the National Police have arrested five individuals in the towns of Dénia and Elx as alleged perpetrators of crimes including burglary, vehicle theft, and belonging to a criminal group. This criminal organization was dedicated to the theft of homes, with the aim of stealing jewelry, vehicles, and anything else of high value in the illicit market.
The investigation began when the National Police located two suspects who were allegedly involved in six criminal incidents. These two men, of Bulgarian origin, were believed to be members of a criminal organization with a high level of expertise in home burglaries.
A significant portion of the National Police’s resources were dedicated to tracking these two suspects. The initial investigations yielded results, revealing the identities of these two criminals, along with a third suspect who may have had direct ties to the organization.
During a routine citizen safety check, officers located one of the suspects driving a stolen vehicle with keys that had been taken from a home. This arrest allowed for the definitive connection to the third member of the organization.
Further investigations by the National Police led to the identification of the remaining members of the criminal group. Two more individuals were identified, along with the discovery of a hotel establishment they operated.
Subsequently, a surveillance operation was set up on the suspects, leading to the arrest of the first three individuals as they were in the process of committing a burglary in Elx. They were caught with a large quantity of jewelry, tools, €3,020 in cash, clothing items, gloves to conceal fingerprints, and vehicle keys.
A search of one of the vehicles used by the criminals revealed a hidden compartment containing lock picks, sophisticated tools, master keys, and magic keys. These specialized tools allowed the suspects to break into homes undetected.
Investigators continued their inquiries and located the final two members of the criminal group. Both were arrested in Dénia, near a hotel establishment they managed. During searches of their residences and the establishment, more tools, mobile phones, watches, key-making machines, various car key copies, jewelry, and fashion accessories were seized. These items were linked to home burglaries.
With all the gathered information, officers determined that they were dealing with a well-structured criminal group of five individuals with clearly defined roles. They had a high level of geographic mobility, operating throughout the Valencian Community.
The group included a scout, a specialist in door opening who was the leader of the organization, and a third member who provided support during break-ins. The other two members were support personnel, checking for occupants in homes on the day of the burglary.
The group was known to have committed burglaries in Elx, Alzira, Gandia, Castelló, and Valencia. They targeted tourist areas where foreigners resided, specializing in forced home burglaries and possessing advanced knowledge of opening safes. Their thefts focused on jewelry, vehicles, and other high-value items for the illicit market.
The arrested individuals, four men and one woman aged between 44 and 53, all of Bulgarian origin, had prior records for similar offenses. Three were brought before the Elx Court of Instruction and the other two before the Dénia Court of Instruction. The investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of further arrests.
