Adapting studies to the job market

In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving business world, companies are constantly seeking out individuals with the right skills and knowledge to meet their needs. One of the main challenges that companies face when it comes to talent is the difficulty in finding candidates who possess the specific skills and expertise that they require. This has led to a growing consensus that improving communication between the educational and business sectors is crucial. Some private post-university educational institutions have taken it upon themselves to bridge this gap by tailoring their programs to meet the demands of the job market.

Jared Gil, CEO of Nuclio Digital School, explains, „We create bootcamps based on the job opportunities we identify at any given time.“ Currently, the most sought-after subjects by companies are data science, cybersecurity, and app and web design. One of the most successful programs is focused on data analysis and processing, which goes beyond just data manipulation. „We have also included Python programming to enable students to use data for predictions and draw conclusions,“ Gil points out.

The demand for these innovative areas is high, with classes consistently full. The cybersecurity course, a necessity that has become increasingly apparent with the rise of remote work and digitalization during the COVID-19 lockdowns, is also new and set to begin in April. In addition to these cutting-edge fields, more established areas like digital product management and digital marketing continue to be in high demand.

The driving force behind Nuclio Digital School is digitalization. The role of this transformation within companies has shifted over time. As Gil states, „It used to be a trend, now it’s a necessity.“ Indeed, all indications suggest that digitally transformed companies have weathered the COVID-19 crisis better than those that have not.

Before the pandemic, the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Barcelona was pushing young people to study technology, according to Gil. Initially, students enrolled in the school, founded in late 2018, to transition from corporate jobs to startups. Now, however, most companies have begun digitalization processes, prompting professionals to update their skills and adapt to their company’s new way of operating. Many students are already working, making the classes compatible with their work schedules.

Nuclio Digital School has not been affected by the pandemic in terms of class delivery, as they had already been using a hybrid model of in-person and virtual classes. „COVID-19 has had no impact on the school’s content, as we had already made the transition to online education before it hit,“ Gil explains.

Currently, the school is in a phase of expansion, with a new campus set to open in Madrid. The first in-person programs will start in May once the facilities are completed. This is not the only expansion in progress, as Gil reveals that they have built a second campus in Barcelona next to their original location near the Sagrada Familia. „Barcelona has become too small for us,“ he adds.

In conclusion, the collaboration between educational institutions and businesses is essential in preparing individuals for the demands of the job market. By adapting their programs to meet the evolving needs of companies, schools like Nuclio Digital School are helping professionals stay ahead in the digital age.
