Pas President, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, along with his coalition partners in Perikatan Nasional (PN), has taken a stand against the practice of „shopping“ for Members of Parliament using money or promises. Instead, he emphasized the importance of grounding themselves in reality by practicing true democracy and relying on the people and their sacrifices for the party since its inception.
Abdul Hadi stated that despite the ups and downs in politics, they remain prepared and committed to waiting for a change in government through the democratic process and constitutional monarchy. He likened those who cannot withstand the political turmoil to being seasick on a ship, vulnerable to the waves of change like a stirred cup of coffee.
Previously, Deputy Director (Community Communication) of the Community Communication Department (J-KOM), Datuk Ismail Yusop, linked several PN leaders, including certain government representatives, to attempts to overthrow the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This was allegedly done to divert attention from moral issues plaguing J-KOM.
He further claimed that in addition to PN leaders, influential veteran politicians with the title of Tun were colluding with the opposition, even allegedly using „foreign sources“ to topple Anwar’s administration.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hadi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Marang, agreed with the views of National Journalist Figure, Datuk A Kadir Jasin, that any move to change the government should come from those with financial resources. He noted the disparity between the opposition, who face budget constraints, financial restrictions, and asset seizures, and those supporting the opposition, who are also targeted and hindered for being seen as the most dangerous challengers to the government.
In conclusion, Abdul Hadi’s stance against the practice of „shopping“ for MPs and his commitment to democratic principles and the support of the people highlight the importance of integrity and transparency in politics. By standing firm in their beliefs and relying on the support of the people, Pas and PN aim to navigate the turbulent waters of politics with dignity and respect for the democratic process.
