‚গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার কমিটি‘ যাচাই করতে প্রস্তুত ‚অভ্যুত্থান পরবর্তী ফ্যাসিবাদ ঠেকা‘

The formation of the ‚Democratic Rights Committee‘ has been announced after every uprising of the people, indicating the establishment of ‚fascism‘ once again. This committee aims to resist fascism by representing various professions of people from different classes.

On Friday, the co-convenor of the committee, Samina Lutfa Nitra, confirmed in a press release that the committee has been formed. It was decided to form this committee by convening a meeting at the TSC cafeteria of Dhaka University on Thursday, where Professor Sirajul Islam Chowdhury was appointed as the convener.

The press release stated, „After every uprising, it has been seen that ‚fascism‘ is established once again. The exchange of people’s lives has been in vain. This time, we cannot let it go in vain. Therefore, it is essential to have a united platform of all the forces participating in the democratic movement. Keeping this objective in mind, Professor Sirajul Islam Chowdhury has been appointed as the convener to form a committee.“

The platform will stand against any step that goes against the democratic rights and freedom of expression of all citizens of the mountains and plains. It will work towards ensuring the freedom of expression of the judiciary, repealing regressive and anti-people laws, protecting the rights of workers and farmers, and ensuring a fascist-free democratic campus, along with all kinds of democratic demands.

The committee includes co-convenors such as Professor Harun-ar-Rashid, Abdullah Kafi Ratna, Tanjimuddin Khan, Seema Dutt, Maha Mirza, and Engineer Kallol Mustafa. Members of the committee include Professor Anu Muhammad, Salimullah Khan, Akmal Hossain, Mamun Al Rashid, Mohammad Azam, Moshahida Sultan Ritu, Snigdha Rezwana, journalist Abu Sayed Khan, Ashraf Kaiser, Vidhan Ribero, Anis Raihan, among others.

Moreover, members like Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, A. S. M. Kamal Uddin, Afzalur Basar, Moyharul Islam Babla, Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua, lawyer Manjurul Alam Matin, writer and artist Mustafa Zaman, artist Arup Rahi, are also part of this committee.

The committee also includes Joydeep Bhattacharya, Nasimul Khabeer Deek, Taslima Akhtar Lima, Jolly Talukdar, Ameena Khatoon, Sunayana Chakma, Harun-ar-Rashid Bhuiya, Manas Nandi, Shamim Imam, Satyajit Biswas, Baqi Billah, Iqbal Kabir, Afzal Hossain, Rashid Shahriar, Sunayana Chakma, Ragib Naeem, Salman Siddiqui, Dilip Roy, Saikat Aref, Sayedul Haque Nishan, Ankhan Chakma, Taofika Priya, and more than a hundred individuals.

In conclusion, the formation of the Democratic Rights Committee is a significant step towards resisting fascism and upholding democratic values. The diverse representation in the committee reflects the unity and determination of the people to fight for their rights and freedoms. It is crucial to stand together against any form of oppression and injustice to ensure a democratic and inclusive society for all.
