In its eighth year, Vidin became the stage for the remarkable event „Vintage Vehicles Vidin 2024,“ which brought together enthusiasts and owners of retro cars from all over the country and abroad. The event traditionally started from the parking lot in front of the Vidin Municipality.
The Secretary of the municipality, Emiliyan Enchev, chose a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible to participate in the parade. This year, the parade passed through the streets of „Tsar Simeon Veliki,“ „Raina Knyaginya,“ and „Stefan Karadzha,“ reaching the new final destination, „Telegraph Gate.“ Dozens of cars and motorcycles from all over Bulgaria, Serbia, and Romania were lined up in the Danube Park to impress the spectators.
Among the guests was the national representative Lyuben Ivanov, and the deputy mayor for territorial development and infrastructure development, Nayden Yonov, participated in the retro parade with his 1979 Audi Coupe. The beginning of the exhibition was marked by Ivan Tzolov, the initiator of „Retro Parade – Vintage Vehicles Vidin,“ and the organizer of the event, supported by the Vidin Municipality. He expressed his gratitude to the municipal leadership, preparing plaques for the mayor of Vidin Municipality, Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov, and deputy mayor Borislava Borisova, which he presented to the municipality’s secretary.
„On behalf of the mayor of Vidin Municipality and myself, I congratulate you on the wonderful event and the opportunity you give us to touch our childhood dreams. We have all grown up with pictures of these cars, and now we experience the emotion of seeing them live,“ said Enchev.
At the end of the event, after numerous enthusiastic reactions and photos, the participants with the most impressive cars were awarded, including a 1966 Cadillac Deville Convertible, a 1981 Corvette C3, a Porsche 968, and others.
The ceremony began with a symbolic transfer of the Olympic flag through the main Danube alley by Tihomir Petkov – the only Bulgarian who participated in the torchbearers‘ tour of the XXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The Secretary of the Vidin Municipality presented Tihomir Petkov with a plaque from the Vidin Municipality as a token of gratitude for making the old capital city involved in the most significant sports tournament.
Participants and guests left with unforgettable memories and a promise to meet again next year. The Vintage Vehicles Vidin event showcased the beauty and nostalgia of retro cars, bringing together car enthusiasts from different countries to celebrate their shared passion for classic vehicles.
