YES-EU, a new electric bus supplier in Sweden, is making its debut in Östergötland with Connect Bus in Motala. Connect Bus has ordered 29 15-meter, three-axle electric buses class 2 for their new service, set to start in a few weeks. The deliveries have already begun, marking a significant milestone for YES-EU’s presence in the Swedish market.
YES-EU is a group of companies that has established a strong presence in Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland with electric buses from Yutong. However, unlike in these countries, the buses being delivered to Connect Bus are not from Yutong but from YES-EU. These buses have been developed by YES-EU and are largely built using European components, with production taking place in Changde, China, at CRRC Electric Vehicles.
The buses are equipped with LFP batteries from CATL, with capacities ranging from 564 to 700 kWh, depending on the routes they will serve. The central-mounted motor delivers a maximum torque of 3500 Nm, and charging is done via CCS connectors. The buses have two charging ports, located above the front wheel housings on the right and left sides, allowing for simultaneous dual charging for increased efficiency.
The chassis, made of stainless steel, comes from Stala in Finland, while the axles are from ZF and the instrument panel from Actia. The buses feature digital rearview mirrors and are equipped with diesel heaters from Valeo for winter conditions. The fire suppression system is provided by Fogmaker for added safety.
Inside, the buses are fitted with three-point seat belts for passenger safety and feature both USB A and USB C charging ports. Additionally, Thule bike racks are installed at the rear of the bus for cyclists. The front door is a single slide door, while the middle door is a double slide door for efficient boarding and alighting.
Anders Carnlöf, YES-EU’s sales manager, mentioned that they are testing red lighting in the passenger area as an alternative to traditional white lighting to improve driver visibility in low-light conditions.
Overall, the introduction of YES-EU’s electric buses to Connect Bus in Motala represents a significant step towards sustainable and efficient public transportation in Östergötland. With their innovative design and European components, these buses are set to provide a comfortable and environmentally friendly commuting experience for passengers while contributing to a greener future for the region.
