The Njeguš cultural summer in the courtyard of King Nikola’s house in Njeguše celebrated 20 years of work of the Society of Friends of Njeguš, as announced by the Tourist Organization (TO) of Cetinje. The event was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the association, which has surpassed expectations with its numerous activities and completed projects.
One of the key figures in the long-term success of the Society is Lazar Božović, an enthusiast and pedagogue who has played an indispensable role in the organization’s work. The behind-the-scenes contributors, such as Kujović, Konjević, and prof. Dr. Radovan Radonjić, have also been instrumental in the Society’s achievements. Their commitment and passion have helped Njeguš preserve its unique place in Montenegro’s history.
The organizers took the opportunity to express their gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the success of the Society and its cultural summer event. Awards in the form of plaques and certificates of appreciation were presented to cultural and public workers, activists, and sponsors who have supported the Society’s mission.
Notable individuals who received plaques for their contributions to Njeguš’s cultural heritage include Radovan Radonjić, Slobodan Marunović, Vesna Vičević, Sreten Vujović, Branka Šćepanović, Vladimir Perović, and Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš. The event also featured a special performance by CNP doyen Slobodan Marunović, who delighted attendees with an excerpt from ‚Potonje ura Njegoševa‘.
In addition to recognizing individuals for their engagement, dedication, and creativity, plaques were awarded to Marjan-Mašo Miljić, Adnan Čirgić, Čedomir Bogićević, Dragan Mitov Đurović, Miomir Maroš, Branko Kovačević, Rajko Radović, Stevo Čavor, Gojko Kustudić, Ljubo Vulović, Lazar Božović, and the Tourism Organization of the Capital of Cetinje for their valuable contributions.
The celebration continued with a gathering at the ‚Bastadur‘ Restaurant, where attendees enjoyed a rich home-cooked meal. The event also featured a fiddle-poetry performance by Rajko Radović and the young reciter Milica Radović, who emotionally recited a collage of Montenegrin songs, adding a touch of cultural richness to the evening.
