Applications Now Open for „Civil Society Research“ Call under ARDEB 3005 Programme | TÜBİTAK

The Twelfth Development Plan for the years 2024-2028 has brought a significant focus on the field of civil society by establishing a Special Expertise Commission on Non-Governmental Organizations in the Development Process. This move highlights the importance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in shaping public policies and creating a democratic, participatory, and inclusive civil society structure. The main goal is for NGOs to actively participate in all stages of public policies, from planning to monitoring and supervision, with a strong emphasis on cooperation, adaptability, and active citizenship.

To further support the development of the civil society sector, the Ministry of Internal Affairs – the General Directorate of Civil Society Relations, and TUBITAK have collaborated to launch a call for „Civil Society Research.“ This initiative aims to provide academic knowledge and scientific input to the development of public policies by supporting research that generates viable, guiding, and innovative solutions for both the civil society sector and the public sector.

The call for Civil Society Research is expected to address various research issues related to the civil society sector. These include improving the institutional capacities of NGOs, exploring perceptions of civil society, ensuring active civil society participation in decision-making mechanisms, examining the relationship between civil society and volunteering, studying donorship, and exploring the impact of communication and digitalization in the field of civil society.

Researchers and academics interested in contributing to the advancement of the civil society sector are encouraged to submit their proposals for the call for Civil Society Research. The deadline for completing the online application is 30 September 2024, at 23.59 (UTC+3), and the deadline for completing the electronic signature procedures for projects whose online applications have been completed is 4 October 2024, at 23.59 (UTC+3).

Overall, the focus on civil society within the Twelfth Development Plan and the call for Civil Society Research demonstrate a commitment to fostering a vibrant and effective civil society that actively engages in shaping public policies and promoting democratic values. This initiative provides a valuable opportunity for researchers to contribute to the advancement of the civil society sector and drive positive change in society.
