Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) has seen a significant increase in the number of applications to its English degree programs for the upcoming academic year. With a total of 12,748 applications received during the application periods that ended on January 17, 2024, TAMK has experienced a notable rise from the 9,450 applications received the previous year.
The breakdown of applications reveals that TAMK received 10,896 applications for Bachelor’s degrees in the joint application round and 1,852 applications for Master’s degrees in TAMK’s direct application round. Comparatively, the numbers from the previous year were 8,488 and 962, respectively. This surge in applications showcases the growing interest in TAMK’s programs among prospective students.
Entrepreneurship and Team Leadership emerged as the most popular Bachelor’s degree program, with a staggering 3,557 applications. On the other hand, International Business Management retained its position as the most sought-after Master’s degree program, receiving 1,193 applications. This trend highlights the diverse range of programs offered by TAMK that cater to the interests and career aspirations of a wide array of students.
Katja Komulainen, Vice President for Education at TAMK, expressed her delight at the continued popularity of the university’s programs. It is worth noting that all degrees at TAMK admit both Finnish and international students, fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. For Bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Engineering, International Business, Nursing, Software Engineering, and Textile and Material Engineering, the online International UAS Exam serves as the entrance examination. A new language test requirement has been introduced as a feature of the exam starting in Spring 2024. Additionally, Bachelor’s programs in Entrepreneurship and Team Leadership, Media and Arts, as well as all Master’s degrees, utilize pre-tasks and online interviews for admission.
Looking ahead, the joint application to TAMK’s degrees in Finnish will be open from March 13 to 27, 2023. Open path application and transfer application opportunities will become available later in the spring, providing prospective students with various pathways to pursue their academic goals at TAMK.
