SKMM Melaka Resolves Majority of High-Speed Internet Coverage Complaints
The Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM) Melaka has successfully resolved 200 out of the total 237 complaints related to high-speed internet coverage received by the agency since January. This achievement highlights the commitment of SKMM Melaka in addressing the concerns of the community regarding telecommunications services in the state.
Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, the state’s Exco for Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Communication, revealed that 33 complaints are currently under investigation, with four more undergoing further actions to gather detailed information. He emphasized the importance of addressing these complaints promptly to ensure that residents have access to reliable and efficient telecommunications services.
In response to the complaints, SKMM Melaka conducted a Cellular Service Quality Test Series to investigate and resolve the issues faced by the residents in the state. The feedback received from the complaints has enabled SKMM to plan for the construction of telecommunication towers in the affected areas, aiming to improve the overall coverage and connectivity for the community.
During a press conference after leading the Cellular Service Quality Test Series in Melaka Tengah district, Datuk Fairul Nizam was joined by Syed Isa Alsagoff, the Director of SKMM Melaka, Ab Rasil Hajatil, the Director of the State Information Department (JaPen), and Mohd Jailani Deraman, the Chief Operating Officer of Melaka ICT Holdings Sdn Bhd (MICTH).
The third series of tests covered a distance of 62 kilometers around Durian Tunggal, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Jalan Penghulu Abbas, Dataran Pahlawan, Kota Laksamana, Klebang, Pulau Gadong, and Paya Rumput. This comprehensive testing process aimed to identify and address any gaps in the telecommunication network to enhance the overall service quality for the residents.
Fairul Nizam urged users in the state facing coverage issues to report their complaints directly to SKMM using the online platform provided. He also encouraged users to reach out to him via WhatsApp to escalate their complaints to SKMM for further action. He emphasized the importance of providing accurate information, including name and contact number, to facilitate swift resolution of the complaints by SKMM.
