Taste’Accio is a new multifaceted space that marks the intersection between culture and products of Lazio origin. Located in an ancient cave beneath Monte dei Cocci in Testaccio, Taste’Accio is set to become a hub of culture, art, and excellent food curated by DOL (Di Origine Laziale). The brainchild of Vincenzo Mancino, this project aims to be a gathering place for experiences and humanity, all nestled under the arches of a centuries-old cave adorned with art and aged products.
One of the most intriguing new openings this autumn, Taste’Accio is part of Mancino’s longstanding commitment to promoting the excellence of Lazio. More than just a gastronomic project, Taste’Accio encourages critical consumption, emphasizing the importance of a conscious and responsible approach to consumption. The underground structures beneath Monte dei Cocci maintain a natural temperature between 10 and 15°C, serving as ancient „refrigerators“ for goods. These caves provide ideal conditions for the natural aging of products like cheeses and cured meats, enhancing their quality and flavor through slow and uniform maturation.
Taste’Accio will serve as a haven for flavors, offering direct sales of products from small artisanal producers in Lazio. Visitors can purchase a variety of items such as cured meats, cheeses, wines, oils, legumes, and spirits, supporting local producers and promoting a short supply chain. Additionally, guests can indulge in on-site tastings, pairing food with wine, participating in workshops, and joining food tours. Mancino, a passionate art enthusiast and avid collector, believes in the intrinsic connection between aesthetics and ethics. The spaces at Taste’Accio will host various art exhibitions throughout the year, showcasing a range of artistic expressions from textured works to photographs.
The inaugural exhibition features sculptural works by ceramist Riccardo Monachesi, alongside photographs on shards by Valentina Bellomo and pieces from the RiscArti Association by Marlene Scalise. The fusion of art and food serves as a means to strengthen their bond through the senses and emotions evoked by beauty and taste. Make sure to add Taste’Accio to your list of new openings to experience in Rome in the coming days.
