Lick and M·A·C team up to release new matt black paint

Black is a color that exudes elegance and sophistication, but it is often used sparingly in interior design. However, Lick, a color-centric home decor brand, is changing the game by putting black in the spotlight for 2024. In collaboration with cosmetics brand M·A·C, Lick has launched a limited edition matt black paint called M·A·C Black 40. This new paint color is designed to reimagine the statement hue of black and make it more accessible for a wide range of decorating styles.

M·A·C Black 40 is described as a ‚jet black‘ with fully black undertones, making it a versatile color that can add dimension and contrast to any room. Tash Bradley, Director of Interior Design and Color Psychologist at Lick, believes that M·A·C Black 40 is a color that everyone can have in their homes. It can effortlessly accent furniture and decor, regardless of your style preferences.

To help you make the most of this exciting new paint color, Tash shares her top tips for decorating with black. One approach is color drenching, where you fully immerse a room in black to create a cozy and calming environment. This can be particularly effective in small rooms with limited natural light, as black can absorb shadows and add personality to the space.

Another decorating idea is to use a 50/50 approach, pairing black with lighter neutrals for a high-contrast look. By dividing the room vertically and using black on the bottom half, you can create a modern and visually appealing space. Lick recommends using their White 02 or White 05 paints to complement M·A·C Black 40 for a cohesive look.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, consider incorporating artistic patterns into your decor to embrace M·A·C Black 40. Black pairs well with every other color, allowing you to have fun with patterns and add personality to your space. Vertical stripes can elongate a room, while other patterns can create visual interest and depth.

For those who prefer a more subtle approach, using black as an accent color can still make a statement. By highlighting architectural features such as staircases or fireplaces with black accents, you can draw attention to the unique elements of your home. Lick recommends pairing black with colors like Pink 01, Taupe 03, or Green 05 for a harmonious color scheme.

M·A·C Black 40 is now available for purchase online at Lick.com and in-store at Lick’s location in London for a limited time. Whether you choose to fully embrace black in your decor or use it as a subtle accent, M·A·C Black 40 offers endless possibilities for creativity and sophistication in your home.
