Jason Hodges, a well-known landscaper and television personality, was born and raised in the leafy Sydney suburb of Willoughby. Growing up in a family of tradespeople, with a bricklayer father, a horticulturalist brother, and two florist sisters, Jason was surrounded by a love for working with plants and the outdoors from a young age. It was no surprise that he chose to pursue a career in landscaping, combining elements of his family’s professions that he admired.
As a teenager, Jason studied Landscape Horticulture and Construction at Ryde Tafe, a respected institution in Sydney. His passion for outdoor work and residential plantings grew as he honed his skills in the field. After completing his education, Jason founded his own landscaping business, Greenart Gardens, in 1990. Starting with just a ute and a few trade tools, he operated the business from his parents‘ home in Willoughby, juggling estimates and project work to build his company from the ground up.
Over the years, Greenart Gardens has evolved into a successful landscape operation in Sydney, employing a team of experienced landscapers. Despite the growth of his business, Jason remains actively involved in overseeing every project, ensuring that his high standards are met at every step of the process. His dedication to his craft and attention to detail have earned him a reputation as a skilled and reliable landscaper in the industry.
Jason’s foray into television came after he landscaped a house for TV producer Stewart Clarke, who recognized his talent and offered him a screen test for the Channel Seven program, Auction Squad. Jason’s on-screen charisma and expertise led to a four-year stint as the resident landscaper on the show before he joined the popular program Better Homes and Gardens. His presence on the show has made him a household name, sharing his landscaping tips and tricks with viewers across Australia.
In addition to his television work, Jason is also a decorated landscaper, having won four Gold medals at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. This year, he is set to make his Show Garden debut at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London, showcasing his talent on an international stage. Despite his busy schedule, Jason remains a devoted father to his daughter Heidi and is often seen with his beloved Fox Terrier, Dannii, by his side.
With his success on television and in the landscaping industry, Jason Hodges has become a respected figure in the world of gardening and outdoor design. His passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces and sharing his knowledge with others has made him a beloved personality among gardening enthusiasts.
