Lena Helms: A Journey of Passion and Success
Lena Helms is a shining example of someone who followed her passion and found success in the world of marketing and events. Her journey began at Cowley College, where she graduated in 2014 with an Associate of Arts degree. From there, she continued her education at Pittsburg State University, studying Marketing/Communications. It was during her time at Pitt State that Lena discovered her love for marketing and communications, ultimately graduating in December 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Communication and a Minor in Marketing.
After graduating, Lena landed a marketing position with Wheat State Wine Co. and immediately knew she had found her calling. The vibrant atmosphere and the relationships she built with her colleagues made each day feel like a joy rather than a job. Lena’s time at WSWCo allowed her to develop her skills and find her niche in the marketing world.
In the fall of 2017, Lena met her husband, and the two tied the knot in the spring of 2019. Their family grew with the arrival of their first daughter in the spring of 2021 and their second daughter in the spring of 2024. Lena’s life took a turn when WSWCo closed its doors in December 2022, leading her to become a stay-at-home mom and start her own business, Helms Marketing and Events.
Helms Marketing and Events specializes in creating websites for small businesses, social media marketing, advertising, and organizing large-scale events. Lena’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for marketing drove her to establish a successful business that catered to the needs of local businesses in her community.
Recently, Lena took on a new role as a Marketing Coordinator with Kanokla, where she continues to excel in the field of marketing. Despite her busy schedule, Lena still finds time to work on her small business and assist companies with their marketing and event planning needs.
Reflecting on her journey, Lena acknowledges that she didn’t have it all figured out when she was 18 and chose a random degree. However, she believes that life has a way of working itself out, and she encourages others to trust the process. Lena finds fulfillment in her various roles, but she cherishes her most important job as a mom above all else.
