Jason Hodges, a well-known landscaper and television personality, was born and raised in the picturesque Sydney suburb of Willoughby. Growing up in a family of tradespeople, with a bricklayer father, a horticulturalist brother, and two florist sisters, Jason was surrounded by a love for working with the land. It was no surprise when he decided to pursue a career in landscaping, combining elements of his family’s professions that he admired.
As a teenager, Jason enrolled in Landscape Horticulture and Construction at Ryde Tafe, a respected institution in the field. Little did he know that this decision would shape his future in the industry. His passion for outdoor work grew as he honed his skills in residential plantings, maintenance, and lawn construction. After completing his education, Jason wasted no time in starting his own landscaping business, Greenart Gardens, with just a ute and a handful of tools. What began as a small operation based out of his parents‘ home quickly evolved into a thriving business.
Over the years, Greenart Gardens has grown into a substantial landscaping company in Sydney, employing a team of experienced professionals. Despite the expansion, Jason remains deeply involved in every project, overseeing his team with a hands-on approach. His dedication to his craft and attention to detail have earned him a stellar reputation in the industry.
Jason’s foray into television came unexpectedly when he landscaped a house for TV producer Stewart Clarke, who was impressed by his work. This led to Jason’s involvement in various television programs, including a four-year stint as the resident landscaper on Auction Squad before joining the popular show Better Homes and Gardens. His expertise and charisma have made him a household name among gardening enthusiasts and TV viewers alike.
In addition to his successful landscaping business and television career, Jason is also a decorated garden designer, having won four Gold medals at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. This year, he is set to make his debut at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London, showcasing his talent on an international stage.
Despite his busy schedule, Jason remains a devoted father to his daughter Heidi and is often seen with his beloved Fox Terrier, Dannii, by his side. His passion for landscaping, coupled with his warm personality, has endeared him to audiences around the world.
In 2012, Better Homes and Gardens, the show that Jason is a part of, received its 10th Silver Logie award for Australia’s Most Popular Lifestyle Program, a testament to its enduring popularity. Now in its 18th season, the show continues to inspire viewers with creative gardening and home improvement ideas, with Jason Hodges at the forefront of it all.
