Apple Car Keys Support Expected in Future Lynk & Co Vehicles

Apple’s Car Keys feature, which allows users to unlock their vehicles using their iPhone or Apple Watch, is set to make its way to future Lynk & Co models. This exciting development was discovered by MacRumors in Apple’s Wallet app backend, indicating that Lynk & Co vehicles may soon support this convenient technology.

Car Keys works by storing a digital version of a car key in the Wallet app on compatible devices. Users can simply hold their Apple Watch or iPhone near a vehicle’s NFC reader to unlock it, eliminating the need for a physical key. This feature adds a new level of convenience and security for vehicle owners.

While Lynk & Co 01 vehicles already support Apple CarPlay, they do not have NFC functionality by default. This means that future models will need to have this feature implemented by the manufacturer in order to support Car Keys. The upcoming Z20 model, which is rumored to be Lynk & Co’s first electric vehicle, could potentially be the first to introduce Car Keys support.

The capabilities of Car Keys may vary depending on the car manufacturer, but at a minimum, users can expect to be able to unlock, lock, and start their vehicles using this feature. Apple first introduced Car Keys in 2022, and several car manufacturers such as BMW, Rivian, Kia, and Hyundai have already implemented support for it. Apple maintains a list of vehicles that support Car Keys on its CarPlay model availability webpage.

In addition to Lynk & Co’s potential adoption of Car Keys, Apple has been making headlines with other exciting updates. The latest beta of iOS 18 introduces new features such as design updates to the Photos app and a new Safari option. Furthermore, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has revealed that Apple is planning to upgrade its MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac lines with the latest M4 chip later this year.

Overall, the integration of Car Keys into future Lynk & Co models represents a significant step forward in the evolution of vehicle technology. With the convenience and security that Car Keys offer, users can look forward to a seamless and innovative driving experience. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development and other Apple-related news.
