Chance to recycle electronics at St. Camillus parking lot on the morning of August 3

Green Day Recycling hosted a successful electronics recycling event on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the St. Camillus Church parking lot in Arlington. The event aimed to promote decluttering, community engagement, and environmental sustainability by accepting a wide range of electronics for recycling. Participants were encouraged to bring items such as televisions, computers, small appliances, and even bicycles to help reduce e-waste and learn about sustainable practices.

The company’s director of operations, Brian Wood, shared insights into the recycling process, highlighting the importance of sorting and separating materials for further processing. Green Day Recycling strives to keep costs low to encourage community participation, with prices based on the size of the item or the cost to recycle toxic materials like lead found in tube TVs and monitors.

According to a news release from Green Day Recycling, the event accepted various items for recycling at different price points. For example, computers, laptops, video game consoles, and small electronics were priced at $5 each, while larger items like TVs, washing machines, and refrigerators ranged from $25 to $40. Additionally, certain items such as cell phones, bicycles, and household batteries were accepted at no charge, with cash donations appreciated.

Participants were instructed to follow directions from workers upon arrival, bringing their vehicles as close to the recycling truck or dumpster as possible. They were then asked to remain in their vehicles while company workers unloaded the items for recycling. Residents from all towns and communities were welcome to participate, and the event was held rain or shine.

For those interested in more information, Green Day Recycling can be contacted via email at GreenDayRecyclingMA@gmail.com. The company is in the process of building an official website to provide updates on upcoming events and services.

Overall, the electronics recycling event organized by Green Day Recycling at St. Camillus Church was a great success, promoting environmental awareness and community involvement. By responsibly recycling old electronics and household items, participants contributed to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
