Dunavast, PLUS Hoogendoorn, and the municipality of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk have officially kicked off the construction of the new PLUS Supermarket at Molendijk in Waarder.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of the construction of an ultra-modern and sustainable supermarket that meets the highest BREEAM standards. Designed by Ben Kraan Architects, the supermarket will focus on sustainability and self-sufficiency, featuring a sedum roof, solar panels, and a wooden structure. Goudriaan Jongerius will be responsible for the construction work.
The new PLUS supermarket will have a retail space of over 2,000m² and more than 100 parking spaces on a 10,400m² site. In addition, visitors will have access to a Fastned charging station where they can charge their electric vehicles at fast chargers. The modern building will replace the current location of PLUS Hoogendoorn, offering not only an improvement in space but also in terms of traffic safety, thanks to a specially designed truck access route.
Behind this project is PLUS Hoogendoorn, a family-owned business that has been a central figure in the Waarder community and its surroundings since 1916. Led by Dick Hoogendoorn, the company continues its tradition of innovation. The new location provides the space to grow further and meet the changing needs of consumers.
In addition to the supermarket construction, Dunavast will also transform the current PLUS Hoogendoorn building in Waarder. This location will be home to 10 affordable homes, contributing to the livability and housing quality in the region.
The new PLUS supermarket is expected to open its doors in the second quarter of 2025. This development marks an important step in strengthening the supermarket landscape in the municipality of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk.
Overall, the collaboration between Dunavast, PLUS Hoogendoorn, and the municipality showcases a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community development. The new PLUS Supermarket in Waarder is set to become a hub for residents, offering a modern shopping experience while also contributing to the local economy and environment.
