The annual Douglas County 4-H Clothing and Textiles Day and Fashion Revue recently took place at Lake Community Church in Alexandria. The event, held on July 30, featured a public style show with the theme „Celebrate Your Success in 4-H,“ showcasing outfits modeled by several 4-H members. The emcees for the event were Callie Taveirne, 4-H summer intern, and Aleyna Taveirne, Douglas County 4-H youth leader.
The Fashion Revue consisted of two components: „Clothes You Make“ and „Clothes You Buy.“ According to the press release, the program aimed to provide 4-H members with the opportunity to develop skills in planning, selecting, and making clothing, select suitable accessories, build self-confidence and poise, practice leadership skills, and explore career opportunities in the fashion and textiles industry.
The Fashion Revue Court of Honor winners were recognized at the event. Reagan Lennes was named the Clothes You Buy Court of Honor Champion and the overall Clothes You Buy Champion. Other winners included Moriah Loween, Jayne Nelson, Lydia Mason, Lucy Nelson, and Brynley Lennes in the Clothes You Buy category. The overall champion in this category was Reagan Lennes.
In the Clothes You Make category, Skylar Johnson was named the Court of Honor Champion, with other winners including Jayne Nelson, Rita Thesing, Moriah Loween, Kate Nelson, and Elim Jo Loween. The overall champion in this category was Skylar Johnson.
Quilts were also judged during the event, with winners in different age categories. In grades 3 through 5, Elim Jo Loween and Kylie Williams were named Champion and Reserve Champion, respectively. For grades 6 and up, Moriah Loween and Lilibelle Hokanson were named Champion and Reserve Champion, with Moriah Loween taking the overall quilt champion title.
The event also featured youth involved in the performing arts project area, who entertained the audience with musical performances. Winners in this category included Evie Meissner and Kate Nelson in grades 3 through 5, and Thomas Dutcher and Lydia Mason in grades 6 and up.
Champion plaques for the event were sponsored by various local businesses, and award sponsors included Andria Theatre, Bon Jos, Casey’s Amusement Park, and more. The press release expressed gratitude to Lake Community Church for hosting the event and to the parents, grandparents, and supportive adults who helped youth prepare for the event.
