The competition for medical seats is fierce, with only 2000 seats available for the 7200 qualified students. This has led to a surge in the number of students opting for medical courses in the state. The merit cutoff for MBBS courses is expected to be higher this year, ranging from 25 to 30 marks above the qualifying cutoff.
The document verification process for the qualified students has already begun, with over 22,052 students completing the verification process. This process is crucial as it determines the final merit list for admissions. With more than 23,000 students expected to undergo verification, the competition for medical seats is intense.
In terms of college availability, there are currently 39 medical colleges in Gujarat offering a total of 6858 seats, an increase from the previous year. Additionally, three new government medical colleges have been approved, which will add 300 more seats to accommodate the growing number of students seeking medical education. In dental courses, there are 13 colleges with 1255 seats, while ayurvedic and homeopathic courses offer 3116 and 4290 seats respectively.
Last year, there were a total of 130 colleges with 14702 seats, which has now increased to 138 colleges with 15519 seats this year. Additionally, 7282 students from Gujarat have qualified for medical courses, with 8 students from the state ranking in the top 100 nationwide.
In conclusion, the medical admission process in Gujarat is highly competitive, with a large number of students vying for limited seats. The increase in the number of qualified students this year highlights the growing interest in medical education in the state. As the admissions process progresses, it is essential for students to stay updated on the latest developments and prepare diligently for the challenges ahead.
