Henkel Malaysia, in partnership with Project Hope Welfare Association, recently wrapped up a 10-week computer literacy program aimed at children aged 10 to 17 from low-income and Myanmar refugee families. This initiative, part of Henkel Malaysia’s „Make an Impact on Tomorrow“ campaign, sought to narrow the digital divide by equipping participants with essential computer skills.
The program, held at Project Hope Welfare Association’s premises, provided foundational computer skills to the children, including basic navigation, functionality, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Beyond technical skills, the program also offered training in resume writing and presentation skills, boosting the participants‘ confidence and enhancing their future prospects in today’s digital world. The training sessions were conducted by 16 employee volunteers from various departments at Henkel.
Teoh Tsu-Shien, President of Henkel Malaysia, expressed enthusiasm for supporting Project Hope Welfare Association by donating computers and providing training sessions for the children. He emphasized Henkel’s commitment to creating lasting social impact within local communities. Lai Leen, Chairperson of Project Hope Welfare Association, expressed gratitude for Henkel Malaysia’s contributions, noting that the program aligns with the association’s mission of empowering students who may not have had the opportunity to study or learn otherwise. The generous donation of laptops from Henkel Malaysia will continue to benefit the students in their educational pursuits.
This computer literacy program marks the second successful collaboration between Henkel Malaysia and Project Hope Welfare Association. In May 2024, the organizations partnered on the „EZY Baking Workshop,“ which aimed to empower individuals from low-income backgrounds with baking knowledge and support to kickstart their own home-based baking businesses. This initiative aimed to foster self-reliance and economic empowerment within the community.
Henkel Malaysia’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement is evident through its ongoing collaborations with Project Hope Welfare Association. By providing essential skills and resources to underserved communities, Henkel is making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need.
