The Science, Technology and Environment Partnership (STEP) Centre recently conducted socialisation events at several Sixth Form Centres in Brunei to provide information on the programmes available for the year. The sessions were held at Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre, Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTET), and Belait Sixth Form Centre, with approximately 400 school leaders and representatives from both private and public educational institutions in attendance.
One of the highlights of the events was the two forum sessions held on January 20 and 27, where educators shared and discussed innovative science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) programmes being implemented at their respective schools. The forum panellists included educators from various schools such as Rimba III Primary School, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS), Berakas Secondary School, Ma’had Islam Brunei, and Belait Arabic School. Additionally, Dr Nur Karnina binti Karim, Head of Seria Energy Lab, represented one of STEP Centre’s strategic partners during the forum sessions.
During the sessions, schools that participated in the STEP Centre’s STEAM programmes in 2022 and 2023 were recognized and presented with STEAM Active School 2023 certificates. Among the schools awarded were Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College, Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School, MSPSBS, PTET, Masin Secondary School, Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School, Amo Primary School, Dato Mohammad Yassin Primary School, Pulaie Primary School, Pengkalan Batu Primary School, Bukit Panggal Primary School, Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Muhammad Yusof Primary School, Bandar Seri Begawan Arabic Preparatory School, and Chung Ching Middle School.
The socialisation events and forum sessions organized by the STEP Centre provided a platform for educators to exchange ideas, share best practices, and learn about the latest developments in STEAM education. By bringing together school leaders and representatives from various educational institutions, the STEP Centre aims to foster collaboration and innovation in the field of science, technology, and environmental education.
Overall, the socialisation events and forum sessions organized by the STEP Centre were successful in promoting STEAM education and highlighting the achievements of schools that have participated in the centre’s programmes. The recognition of schools through the STEAM Active School 2023 certificates serves as a testament to their commitment to providing quality STEAM education to students in Brunei.
