Five government schools in Brunei received a significant boost in their digital connectivity as Progresif Sdn Bhd, a leading telecommunications company, sponsored a year of Wi-Fi service through their ‚Adopt a School‘ initiative. The handover ceremony, held at Progresif headquarters, marked the successful implementation of enhanced Internet connectivity for students and teachers in these schools.
The event was graced by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education, Dr Chin Wei Keh, who commended the initiative for its positive impact on education in the country. The sponsorship was made possible through partnerships with Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (Perbadanan TAIB), Audley Insurance Sdn Bhd, BELTS Brunei, DD-Pykes, and Exceltech Solutions Sdn Bhd, who supported the ‚Adopt a School‘ initiative as part of Progresif’s Donate Data campaign.
The selected schools benefiting from this sponsorship include Tutong Sixth Form Centre, Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School, Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School in Lumut, Rimba Secondary School, and Menglait Secondary School. These schools were chosen by the Ministry of Education to receive the Wi-Fi connectivity service, aimed at enhancing online resources for education.
Progresif’s Chief Executive Officer, Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar, expressed her delight at the collaboration with key stakeholders in improving the local education system through the ‚Adopt a School‘ campaign. She emphasized the importance of Internet connectivity in education and highlighted the commitment shared by all parties involved in the initiative.
The ‚Adopt a School‘ initiative is a testament to the collective effort of the government, private sector, and community in supporting education in Brunei. By providing Wi-Fi connectivity to these schools, Progresif and its partners are empowering students and teachers with access to valuable online resources and educational tools.
Overall, the sponsorship of Wi-Fi connectivity for these government schools is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to learn and succeed. Through initiatives like ‚Adopt a School‘, companies like Progresif are making a tangible impact on education in Brunei and setting a positive example for corporate social responsibility.
