Food and drink options at Tulane Yulman football stadium in 2024: A guide for Where NOLA Eats

Tulane University football fans have a lot to be excited about as the Green Wave continues to rise in the ranks. With a new season kicking off this week, there’s even more to cheer about when it comes to the food offerings at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium. The addition of more New Orleans restaurants and local brands to the game day experience has elevated the quality of food in the stadium and given the concession stands a distinct New Orleans flair.

One major addition for the 2024 season is the introduction of seafood platters served in football-shaped bowls, courtesy of a family renowned for their New Orleans flavor. Edgar “Dook” Chase IV, a fourth-generation restaurateur from the family behind Dooky Chase’s Restaurant, has brought his culinary expertise to Yulman Stadium with two new stands at section 125. Dook’s Tackle Box offers fried shrimp, oysters, or catfish piled over waffle fries in novelty football bowls, while Dook’s Burgers serves up delicious burgers, chicken tenders, and fried chicken sandwiches topped with pickled onions.

Chase’s goal is to showcase the essence of New Orleans through the seafood offerings, providing a taste of local flavor to both home and visiting fans. The addition of Dook’s stands is just one part of a larger initiative to incorporate more local restaurants into the stadium experience. Blue Oak BBQ, Dat Dog, Reginelli’s, Williams Plum Street Sno-Balls, Meyers Lemonade, Superior Grill, and Fat Tuesday are among the other local names returning to Yulman this season, offering a variety of delicious options for fans to enjoy.

The changes at Yulman Stadium are part of a broader transformation of food and beverage service across the Tulane campus. Earlier this year, Tulane partnered with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality to revamp its food service offerings, bringing in more local players and enhancing the overall dining experience for students, faculty, and visitors. The campus now features products from local companies like Gracious Bakery, PJ’s Coffee, and French Truck Coffee, with an emphasis on supporting the local culinary community.

On game day, fans can expect a range of food and drink options that cater to different tastes and preferences. The ground-level concourse is lined with “Walk Thru Bru” beverage stations to ensure quick service, while new markets offer self-serve options like salads and wraps from Robért Fresh Market. Upstairs in the Glazer Family Club, guests can enjoy high-end catering stations with a variety of gourmet offerings, elevating the stadium dining experience to a new level.

The shift in concessions at Yulman Stadium reflects a larger trend in the industry towards incorporating local flavors and concepts into sports venues. By partnering with renowned local chefs and restaurants, Tulane is able to offer fans a taste of authentic New Orleans cuisine while supporting the local culinary scene. The introduction of Dook’s stands and other local favorites adds a unique touch to the game day experience, enhancing the overall atmosphere at Yulman Stadium.

As Tulane Green Wave football kicks off the season with a game against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on August 29, fans can look forward to not only an exciting game on the field but also a delicious culinary experience off the field. With a lineup of local restaurants and brands serving up their best dishes, Yulman Stadium is set to become a hotspot for foodies and football fans alike.
