The recent architectural competition for the East Capital Park Rae development saw five high-quality submissions that all met the competition’s requirements. Anna Elam, the chairperson of the board at East Capital Park Rae and CEO of Eastate, noted that each submission displayed creativity, ambition, and professionalism. However, the winning solution best expressed the company’s vision. „It is important to us that the architectural design of Park Rae creates an environment where visitors can feel comfortable – the winning project offers people-focused solutions that bring balance to the park’s large industrial spaces,“ she explained.
The winning project, „EASTWOOD,“ was submitted by architects Jaan Kuusemets, Anna Solts, Erko Luhaaru, and Anastasia Balašova from DAGOpen. Martin Otsa, the investment manager at East Capital Real Estate, stated that their project best met the given criteria. „The concept reflects our commitment to sustainable development and innovative design. It was a thoughtful solution that allows both companies and employees working there to evolve,“ Otsa added.
„Developers increasingly value high-quality work and living environments. Although the initial cost of establishing such an industrial park may be higher, sustainable and people-focused solutions pay off in the long run,“ said Jaan Kuusemets, architect and partner at DAGOpen. He emphasized that thoughtful spatial planning, diverse landscaping, and carefully designed architecture create a sustainable environment for the park’s employees, clients, as well as the Rae community.
The winning project was selected by a seven-member jury, including Karli Luik from Molumba Architects, Sille Pihlak from PART Architects, Ralf Lõoke from Salto Architects, Ivari Rannama from Rae Municipality, and representatives from East Capital Real Estate – Anna Elam, Peter Elam Håkansson, and Martin Otsa.
East Capital Real Estate is set to build a 140,000-square-meter logistics and light industrial center in Rae Municipality. The design of the building will commence in the third quarter of 2024, with construction scheduled to begin in early 2025.
The competition showcased the importance of innovative and sustainable architectural solutions in creating conducive environments for both work and living. The winning project, „EASTWOOD,“ stood out for its commitment to sustainability, thoughtful design, and focus on enhancing the well-being of those who will interact with the space. As East Capital Real Estate moves forward with the development of Park Rae, the winning project serves as a testament to the power of architecture in shaping vibrant and sustainable communities.
