Four individuals charged by Berwick police for rummaging through vehicles

In a recent incident in Berwick, Pennsylvania, police have charged four individuals with stealing items from vehicles. The suspects, Jared Allen Lewis, Robert Joseph Longenberger Jr., Carissa Marie Beck, and Ashley Renee Lopez-Lopez, were apprehended following suspicious activity in the area of Walnut and East Second streets on August 7.

The police encountered the suspicious activity, which led to a foot chase involving several individuals. During the chase, Jared Allen Lewis was apprehended. Subsequent investigations revealed that Lewis, Longenberger, Beck, and Lopez-Lopez were suspected of rummaging through vehicles and stealing items.

Further investigation led the police to a residence where they allegedly discovered illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia, and items stolen from numerous vehicles. As a result, charges were filed against the suspects.

Jared Allen Lewis was charged with theft, criminal conspiracy to commit theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property. Robert Joseph Longenberger Jr. faces charges of criminal conspiracy to commit theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Carissa Marie Beck was charged with criminal conspiracy to receive stolen property. Ashley Renee Lopez-Lopez is facing charges of theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property, false reports to law enforcement, and hindering apprehension.

It is worth noting that all four suspects are homeless. Currently, Lewis, Longenberger, and Beck are incarcerated at the Columbia County Prison. Berwick Police Chief Kenneth J. Strish commended the hard work and collaboration of the department in successfully closing these incidents of thefts from vehicles.
