HGC Sunshine Hong Kong Campaign aims to spread joy and laughter within the community

HGC Shines Hong Kong Movie Day – Helping SEN children from Heep Hong Society overcome social difficulties and integrate into the community

HGC Global Communications Limited recently launched the „Sunshine Hong Kong“ campaign, with the aim of spreading positivity and joy throughout the community. The first event of this campaign was the HGC Shines Hong Kong Movie Day, where over 200 children with special educational needs (SEN) from Heep Hong Society and their parents attended a screening of the movie „Inside Out 2“ at the cinema. This event was more than just a movie-watching experience – it was a comprehensive social adaptation activity. By attending with their family members, SEN children were able to gradually become accustomed to public spaces like cinemas. This experience helped them develop their social skills, build up their self-confidence, and feel empowered to engage more actively with the community.

The „Sunshine Hong Kong“ campaign aims to raise awareness about mental health and promote holistic well-being among the society. Through a series of engaging activities, HGC hopes to ignite and encourage the pursuit of good physical and mental health, which is essential for generating a positive impact that benefits people in all walks of life. The HGC Shines Hong Kong Movie Day was the first step in this campaign, providing an opportunity for SEN children to watch a movie in a cinema in an ordinary setting. This not only offered them a relaxed and enjoyable experience but also helped enhance their community adaptability and overcome social interaction difficulties, enabling them to better integrate into society.

On the event day, HGC enlisted dozens of volunteers, including summer interns, to provide on-site support. The Parents Resource Centres (PRCs) of Heep Hong Society also lent their full support to the event. After the movie screening, HGC representatives engaged the students in a discussion about the emotional themes and issues depicted in the film. This helped the audience better understand the different emotions and their significance. The subsequent Q&A session was lively, with HGC staff and volunteers guiding the SEN children as they answered questions with ease. This interaction not only increased engagement between HGC and the SEN children but also improved the children’s social skills and self-confidence, allowing them to gain a richer community life experience.

Heep Hong Society, established in 1963, is one of the largest children education and rehabilitation organizations in Hong Kong. It is committed to offering appropriate services to children and youth with different abilities and their families, helping them realize their full potential and embrace positive living. With different service units providing support to mainstream schools and kindergartens, Heep Hong Society helps more than 23,000 children, youth, and parents every year, actively promoting the development of integrated education and rehabilitation services.

Mr. Raymond Yim, Senior Manager of HGC, expressed that the physical and mental well-being of the public has always been a top priority for the company. The „Sunshine Hong Kong“ campaign aims to provide a platform for the public to enjoy activities and experiences that can help them relax and recharge with positive energy. By organizing events like the HGC Shines Hong Kong Movie Day, HGC hopes to not only provide SEN children with social adaptation activities but also promote awareness of mental health and share happiness with the community. Ms. Conny Leung, Deputy CEO of Heep Hong Society, expressed gratitude for HGC’s support in enabling children from Heep Hong Society to enjoy a popular movie in a relaxing and inclusive atmosphere, and looks forward to more collaborations to help SEN children and their families participate equally.

In conclusion, the HGC Shines Hong Kong Movie Day was a successful event that not only provided SEN children with a valuable social adaptation experience but also raised awareness about mental health and promoted community integration. Through initiatives like the „Sunshine Hong Kong“ campaign, HGC and Heep Hong Society are working together to create a more harmonious and inclusive social environment, giving back to society and supporting those in need.
