In the beginning of this month, two Estonian cats won titles at the annual International Cat Association (TICA) cat show in the USA, earning them the recognition of being among the most beautiful cats in the world, as reported by Estonian media ERR.
One of the winning cats, Neiti, owned by mother and daughter Rūta and Elisa Adusoo, was awarded the title of „Best Scottish Straight Longhair Cat of the Year.“
„She is very brave, curious – she wants to explore the world,“ described Rūta Adusoo. „A cat with personality.“
The other cat, Kleīnija, owned by Katrīna Jogi, received the title of „Scottish Fold Longhair Breed’s Sweetheart of the Year.“
Both Estonian cats achieved their latest titles within the TICA system.
„In this system, cat shows take place in various countries around the world, including Estonia,“ explained Adusoo on the show „Ringvaade.“
„All these points that judges award internationally are counted in America, and then it is determined which cat is the best in each breed. Since we have been very active in attending shows, the points we earned last season were so impressive that even surprised us.“
As the mother shared, initially she and her daughter Elisa had not planned to engage in this hobby: „We had not planned to participate in shows, but the breeder asked us to participate in at least one show – simply out of curiosity to see how she would do. Elisa really liked it, and I had no objections to this hobby either.“
„We chose this breed because they are like a mix of a cat and a dog. They are very social, very friendly towards people, and not as active as typical cats,“ explained Adusoo.
The article provides a glimpse into the world of cat shows, highlighting the unexpected success of two Estonian cats and shedding light on the passion and dedication of their owners. The story showcases how a simple curiosity can lead to unexpected achievements and how the bond between humans and animals can result in remarkable accomplishments.
