Imatran Kipa donates two vans to Nizhyn, Ukraine

Imatra’s Real Estate and Area Service has made a generous donation to their partner city of Nizhyn by providing two decommissioned vans for relief efforts. The decision to donate the vans was made after discussions that began in the middle of last year, coinciding with the renewal of Imatra’s vehicle fleet. CEO Markku Puuska expressed that the timing was ideal for this act of goodwill towards Nizhyn.

The vans are scheduled to depart for Nizhyn at the beginning of May, carrying relief goods donated by the people of Imatra. The aid package will include items such as first aid supplies, wheelchairs, and computers, based on the specific needs expressed by the residents of Nizhyn. Heikki Laine, the participation coordinator from the city of Imatra, emphasized that this time, there is no requirement for clothing donations. Additionally, homemade food, canned goods, and damaged items will not be included in the aid package.

Driving the vans to Nizhyn will be a volunteer from Imatra, Joni Salmi, who is dedicated to providing aid to Ukraine. Salmi will be accompanied by partners who share his commitment to supporting those in need.

For those interested in contributing to the relief efforts, a list of consumables that can be donated has been provided. The list includes perishable food, first aid supplies, cell phones, adult diapers, walking aids, computers, tools, and fishing nets. It is important to note that only items from this list, which are intact and clean, should be brought as donations. The list may be updated according to the evolving needs of the relief mission.

Donations can be dropped off at the city’s customer service at the city hall in Imatra until April 26, 2024. The customer service hours are from Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Fridays and evenings from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This initiative serves as a reminder of the power of community support and solidarity in times of crisis.

For more information on how to contribute to the relief efforts or to inquire about the donation process, individuals can contact CEO Markku Puuska, participation coordinator Heikki Laine, or volunteer Joni Salmi using the provided contact information. Your support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by conflict and hardship in Nizhyn.
