As the new school year kicks off at Colman-Egan School District, three dedicated educators are ready to make a positive impact on their students. Let’s take a closer look at ML Headrick, Dawn Wirth, and Hailey Schmidt, who are all passionate about teaching and shaping young minds.
ML Headrick, a kindergarten teacher, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her role. With a background in Early Childhood Education from SDSU, ML is excited to give her students a love for learning and create a memorable first year of school for them. What sets ML apart is her ability to build lasting relationships with her students and their families. Having previously taught pre-k at Colman-Egan for 5 years and continued to substitute teach at CE for 2 years, ML is eager to get the year started and get to know all of her students.
Next, we have Dawn Wirth, the part-time Special Education Director. With a master’s degree in k-12 administration and a bachelor’s in elementary education from the University of South Dakota, Dawn is well-equipped to provide a positive and encouraging educational environment for the students at Colman-Egan. Dawn’s passion for working with people and solving problems shines through in her role, as she aims to understand the needs of students, teachers, and parents and find solutions. Outside of work, Dawn is a dedicated runner with a goal of running in all 50 states, having completed 48 so far.
Lastly, we have Hailey Schmidt, who teaches ELL, Elementary, and Jr. High Computer classes. A graduate of Colman-Egan High School, Hailey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with minors in PreK-12 Reading and K-12 Ed Technology from Dakota State University, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Sioux Falls. Hailey’s goal is to offer her students a fun classroom environment and inspire them to explore and become lifelong learners. With a love for building positive relationships with students, families, and coworkers, Hailey is excited to teach in her hometown of Colman.
As the school year progresses, ML Headrick, Dawn Wirth, and Hailey Schmidt will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on the students at Colman-Egan School District. Their dedication, passion for teaching, and commitment to creating a positive learning environment will help shape the future of the students they teach. We wish them all the best in the upcoming school year and look forward to seeing the incredible work they will do with their students.
