Johor Bahru, a bustling city in southern Malaysia, is set to witness a significant development with the establishment of the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC). This move is expected to create ample job opportunities for the residents of the state. The State’s Education and Information Exco, Aznan Tamin, emphasized that this initiative is crucial for the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which promises over 100,000 job openings, particularly in the skilled labor sector.
According to Aznan Tamin, negotiations with international companies are currently underway to ensure that the salaries offered are at a premium level. The proposed minimum wage ranges from RM3,000 to over RM15,000, depending on the position. Various industries are venturing into Johor and actively seeking a workforce, with preparations already in place to accommodate and train the youth of Johor for the industrial sector through JTDC.
The official launch of JTDC is scheduled for October 19th, with the collaboration of all 108 educational institutions specializing in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). This initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the necessary skills to meet the demands of the job market.
In response to the rising cost of living in the state following the implementation of the JS-SEZ, the state government has devised several strategies to address this issue. The focus is on creating sustainable job opportunities that offer competitive salaries, thereby improving the overall quality of life for the residents of Johor.
The establishment of JTDC marks a significant milestone in the economic development of Johor, paving the way for a skilled workforce that is ready to meet the demands of the evolving industrial landscape. With a strong emphasis on education and training, the council is poised to empower the youth of Johor and position them for success in the job market. As Johor continues to attract investments and expand its economic footprint, initiatives like JTDC play a crucial role in ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity for the state and its residents.
