The group ‚Twente Plat‘ will be bringing the humor and music of Twente to Salland. Cabaret performer Fred Rootveld recently appeared on the daily Salland1 radio program ‚Goedemorgen Salland‘ to discuss the upcoming show and reflect on his involvement in the national hit ‚De Pieteröliekar‘.
„Twente Plat is a program featuring humor and songs in the Twente dialect,“ Rootveld explains. He believes that the Twents dialect is one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands and is perfect for conveying humor: „You can tell so many wonderful stories with such beautiful words that you can’t use in Dutch.“
During an evening of ‚Twente Plat‘, audiences can expect plenty of humor and music. Rootveld emphasizes, „We aim to make people laugh as much as possible, that’s what we want to entertain people with.“ The show includes beautiful songs, some in Twents, where all four performers showcase their musical talents. With backgrounds in music from the conservatory, they accompany themselves on various instruments.
The performance is divided into three main themes, one of which is ‚Mans oet Brook‘. Rootveld describes it as a young presenter working in the West who shares his experiences as a security guard for politicians in The Hague. He recounts the hilarious adventures he had while being the former Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s security guard and now working with Schoof.
Despite being performed in Twents, the show’s success extends far beyond the region. Rootveld highlights that the cabaret group has garnered popularity outside of Twente and Salland.
