The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) and Maaedicare Charitable Foundation have joined forces in a groundbreaking partnership to provide free and affordable healthcare services to underserved communities in Malaysia. This collaboration, known as Klinik Amal Percuma, aims to address the lack of access to basic medical care for low-income individuals across the country.
Klinik Amal Percuma offers a range of services including primary care, chronic disease management, health education, and counseling. The clinics operate on a first-come, first-served basis and do not require appointments. Currently, two clinics have opened in Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, with plans to establish 16 clinics in different states in the near future.
The National Chairperson of The Malaysian Red Crescent, Yang Teramat Mulia Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, emphasized the importance of this partnership in improving the health and well-being of those in need. She highlighted the significance of collaboration between healthcare providers, organizations, and community leaders to reach more people and provide comprehensive care.
On the other hand, Yang Mulia Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra, the Chairman of Maaedicare Charitable Foundation, stressed the Foundation’s commitment to bridging the gap in access to affordable healthcare. He noted that despite the presence of government hospitals offering low-cost or free medical services, many low-income communities still struggle to access basic medication and treatment.
Maaedicare Charitable Foundation is already providing subsidised kidney dialysis and cardiac diagnosis to the less fortunate. With the addition of Klinik Amal Percuma, the Foundation aims to expand its services to include various health screenings and diagnostic procedures in the future.
The clinics will be staffed by dedicated healthcare professionals who are committed to providing high-quality care to all patients, regardless of their financial situation. Additionally, there will be volunteer opportunities available for community members who wish to contribute to the clinic’s mission.
The official launch of Klinik Amal Percuma was attended by Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, along with key officials from MRCS, Maaedicare Charitable Foundation, and MAA Group Berhad. The event marked a significant milestone in the efforts to improve access to healthcare for underserved populations in Malaysia.
