Lawrence Public Library to hold computer and electronics recycling event – The Lawrence Times

The Lawrence Public Library is hosting its first Computer and Electronics Recycling Drive in partnership with PCs for People, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing technology access to families and individuals with low incomes. This event aims to refurbish donated electronics and make them accessible to those who need it most. The drive will take place on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium located at 707 Vermont St.

Community members are encouraged to bring in their old desktop computers, laptop computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, and printers for recycling. However, there will be a $40 charge for all CRT TVs and printers. It’s important to note that certain items cannot be accepted at the event, including VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, fire alarms, smoke detectors, thermometers, lightbulbs, PCB ballasts, batteries, large appliances, and kitchen items.

This initiative not only helps in reducing electronic waste but also provides an opportunity for individuals to contribute to a sustainable environment. By recycling their old electronics, community members can ensure that these items are properly disposed of and potentially refurbished for reuse by those in need.

If you’re interested in participating in the Computer and Electronics Recycling Drive, no registration is required. Simply drop off your items at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium during the designated hours on Monday.

In addition to supporting this recycling drive, you can also stay informed about local news and events by signing up for the Lawrence Times email newsletters. By subscribing, you’ll receive updates on important community matters and stay connected with what’s happening in Lawrence.

For more information about the recycling drive or to learn about other ways to get involved in the community, you can reach out to the Lawrence Times news team at Hello@LawrenceKSTimes.com.
