In a shocking turn of events, an 18-year-old teen with multiple arrest warrants across the state was apprehended by Madison Police after a chaotic series of events in Madison, Mississippi. The teen, identified as Montoya Motley of Gulfport, was involved in a high-speed chase that resulted in multiple collisions and dangerous driving maneuvers.
The incident unfolded on a Friday when Madison Police officers responded to a report of a stolen 2016 Nissan Altima, believed to be connected to an armed carjacking that occurred in the Pine Belt area. The vehicle was occupied by Montoya Motley and another individual suspected of involvement in the carjacking. As officers attempted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle, Montoya fled the scene, leading to a dramatic pursuit through the streets of Madison.
During the chase, Montoya struck three vehicles on Main Street and Grandview Boulevard, causing injuries to the occupants. Fortunately, the injured individuals were treated at the scene and released. Undeterred, Montoya continued driving recklessly, even going the wrong way on Grandview Boulevard, endangering other motorists and pedestrians in the area.
As the situation escalated, multiple law enforcement agencies were called in to assist in apprehending the fleeing suspect. The pursuit continued onto Cotton Hill in Madison, with Montoya eventually losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a bridge on McClellan Drive. Despite the crash, Montoya managed to flee on foot into the Cobblestone Subdivision, armed with a gun.
After a tense search, the suspect was eventually located near a residence and taken into custody by law enforcement officers. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Montoya was wanted in connection with armed robbery and possibly kidnapping in the City of Biloxi. Additionally, officers recovered three firearms and a significant quantity of marijuana in Montoya’s possession.
Montoya Motley now faces a slew of charges, including felony fleeing, receiving stolen property, possession with intent to distribute, and felony malicious mischief. The 18-year-old is currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center as he awaits his initial court appearance. The Madison Police Department is working closely with the Hattiesburg Police Department and Gulfport Police Department to investigate any potential accomplices involved in the incident.
