MagnumCares, the CSR arm of Magnum 4D Berhad, recently partnered with the Malaysian Nature Society to plant 700 trees at the Kuala Selangor Nature Park. This initiative, led by Magnum 4D executive director Krian Upatkoon and executive vice-president Datuk Chan Chee Fai, signifies Magnum’s commitment to environmental conservation and protection.
The tree planting event, which involved over 50 Magnum employees, aimed to support the United Nations Sustainability Goals (UNSDG) and promote environmental stewardship in Malaysia. The tree saplings were sourced from local communities and the indigenous Orang Asal from RPS Banun in Gerik, Perak, showcasing MagnumCares‘ dedication to empowering indigenous tribes in environmental conservation efforts.
Krian Upatkoon emphasized the importance of employee engagement in environmental sustainability, stating that MagnumCares believes in empowering its employees to make a positive impact. The collective effort of planting 700 trees not only preserves the environment but also aligns with Magnum’s broader ESG goals of balancing business growth with environmental responsibility.
Datuk Chan Chee Fai highlighted MagnumCares‘ continuous efforts in environmental protection, citing the planting of 500 trees in 2022 and the recent planting of 700 trees in Kuala Selangor Nature Park. By collaborating with the Malaysian Nature Society, MagnumCares aims to drive its efforts further in habitat conservation and environmental protection, leaving a legacy of nature preservation for future generations.
Kuala Selangor Nature Park, known for its diverse wildlife and habitats, provides a crucial refuge for numerous species of birds and wading birds during their annual migration. By revitalizing the park with various tree saplings, MagnumCares contributes to the conservation of multiple flora and fauna, ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystem.
In addition to tree planting initiatives, MagnumCares introduced a digital CSR platform called Project Magnum Hearts on its MyMagnum 4D app in 2023. This platform allows customers to support charitable projects in Malaysia by earning ‚Hearts‘ on their purchases, reflecting MagnumCares‘ commitment to addressing diverse societal needs such as reducing food wastage and providing educational support to underprivileged communities.
