In a shocking and disturbing incident in Buckhannon, West Virginia, an elderly man has been arrested for intentionally ramming three different vehicles into three different homes. Marvin „Buck“ Tenney, 82, of Buckhannon, is currently behind bars without bond, facing multiple charges including three counts of felony attempted murder. The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene early Thursday morning after receiving reports of vehicles crashing into homes.
Deputies arrived at a mobile home in the Buckhannon area to find a mini-van lodged inside the residence. Witnesses informed the deputies that the suspected driver, Tenney, was fleeing in a pickup truck and refused to stop. A chase ensued, leading deputies to Tennerton where Tenney crashed into another house. As deputies apprehended Tenney, they discovered that a third home had also been targeted prior to their arrival.
The series of crashes resulted in three individuals being hospitalized. Two of the victims were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, with one female in critical condition. The severity of her injuries is life-threatening, while a male victim also sustained severe injuries. The third victim, who was in the third home rammed by Tenney, was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
Sheriff Mike Coffman revealed that the incident was a deliberate and planned attack by Tenney. According to Coffman, Tenney had been involved in confrontations with the residents of all three homes in the weeks leading up to the incident. Deputies had served him with restraining orders, escalating the situation. Tenney lived in close proximity to the first two homes and was able to quickly retrieve different vehicles to carry out the attacks.
Coffman emphasized the premeditated nature of the crime, stating that Tenney had been planning the attacks for weeks. The elderly man strategically aimed the vehicles at areas of the homes where he knew people would be sleeping in the early hours of the morning. This calculated and targeted act is a rarity in Upshur County, leaving law enforcement officials stunned and investigating the motives behind Tenney’s actions.
Tenney is currently held on a $1 million cash-only bail, awaiting further legal proceedings. The community of Buckhannon is left reeling from the senseless violence that unfolded in their quiet town. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to piece together the events leading up to the disturbing incident and ensure justice is served for the victims and their families.
