Livestreaming world was shaken a few years ago when Guy „Dr. Disrespect“ Beahm found himself in hot water for a situation that was never fully explained or brought to light. The streamer had his relationship with Twitch completely severed, and he disappeared for several months, leading many to believe he was embroiled in something serious. However, he eventually made a comeback, and everything seemed to return to normal.
Recently, former Twitch employee Cody Conners took to Twitter with a cryptic post referencing the incident, likely due to an NDA he had with Twitch expiring, allowing him to finally break his silence on the matter. In the post, Conners claimed that a certain high-profile streamer was caught using Twitch’s now-defunct Whispers system to engage in sexually explicit messages with a minor, including attempting to arrange a meeting with said minor at an upcoming TwitchCon.
Although Conners never mentioned Dr. Disrespect by name, it didn’t take long for people to connect the dots and realize that the post was alluding to the streamer, sparking controversy once again.
Dr. Disrespect himself took to Twitter to assert his innocence, stating, „I have done nothing wrong, all of this has been investigated and resolved, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing found, and I got paid.“
However, it seems that this may not be the case, as the developer that Dr. Disrespect helped found, Midnight Society, has decided to sever ties with the streamer, stating, „We assumed his innocence and began speaking with involved parties. And to uphold our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we had to take action. For this reason, we are ending our relationship with Guy Beahm with immediate effect.“
Following this development, Dr. Disrespect hosted a stream where he mentioned feeling „tired“ and burnt out from social media, hinting that it may be „time to ride off into the sunset.“
It remains to be seen whether a proper investigation will be launched into these allegations. The situation continues to unfold, leaving fans and the streaming community in a state of uncertainty and speculation.
