Cats Help MTÜ, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping cats in need, recently shared a heartbreaking story of a male village cat who had been cared for by people for years. The cat had cozy shelters and was well-fed, making his life on the streets quite comfortable. However, tragedy struck when the cat was suddenly found paralyzed in his hindquarters and had fallen into a pond, managing to climb out on his own.
Concerned volunteers from Cats Help managed to capture the cat and rushed him to Rannamõisa PetCity emergency clinic. It was there that the devastating truth was revealed – the cat had been shot with an air rifle pellet in his spine and chest. Despite efforts to save him, the cat’s injuries were too severe, and the decision was made to euthanize him.
The representative from Cats Help MTÜ expressed deep sadness and outrage at the cruel act of violence towards the innocent cat. It was a tragic end for a cat who had known care and kindness from humans for so long, only to suffer such pain and cruelty in his final moments.
Unfortunately, this was not the only critical case that Cats Help volunteers had to deal with that weekend. Another cat had fallen from a 16-story building in Õismäe and required emergency surgery to remove a foreign object from his stomach. The operation cost over 1500 euros, highlighting the financial strain that rescuing and caring for injured cats can place on organizations like Cats Help.
The dedication and compassion shown by the volunteers at Cats Help MTÜ in the face of such heartbreaking situations are truly commendable. Their efforts to save and care for cats in need, despite the challenges they face, are a testament to their unwavering commitment to animal welfare.
