The Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia (DELIMa) platform has seen a significant increase in usage, with over 1.3 million students actively accessing it for online learning as of July 10. Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh revealed that 401,619 teachers have also utilized the platform, showcasing the widespread adoption of digital technology in education.
The Education Ministry (MOE) has made great strides in providing resources on the DELIMa platform, with a total of 5.3 million user IDs among teachers and students. A total of 788 primary and secondary school textbooks have been uploaded, with 580 books indexed for easy searchability. Additionally, there are 12,762 educational videos available for teachers and students to enhance their learning experience.
One of the key features of the DELIMa platform is the ‚Ruang Ilmu‘ section, where teachers can share teaching and learning videos as well as best practices. This collaborative effort has resulted in 6,570 digital materials contributed by 1,863 teachers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation within the education community.
In response to a question about the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in education, Wong highlighted the potential of AI to personalize learning experiences and improve student understanding. The DELIMa platform currently offers 16 AI-related applications, with nine apps such as Gemini, ChatGPT, Bing AI, and Conker AI assisting teachers in lesson planning.
The ministry has also partnered with tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Intel to provide AI-related educational resources on the DELIMa platform. This strategic collaboration aims to equip teachers and students with the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage AI technology effectively in the classroom.
To further promote digital literacy and AI integration in education, the ministry has launched the Student Digital Education Empowerment Programme, which includes online workshops and competitions. Eight activities are planned for this year, including the Imagine Cup Junior, Digital Storytelling Animation, and Minecraft Education Challenge, offering students opportunities to showcase their creativity and technological prowess.
Overall, the DELIMa platform is playing a crucial role in revolutionizing education in Malaysia, providing teachers and students with access to a wealth of digital resources and AI technology. As the education landscape continues to evolve, initiatives like DELIMa are essential in preparing the next generation for the digital age.
