Traffic Conditions in Montenegro: A Detailed Overview

Driving in Montenegro this morning has been reported to have favorable conditions by the Auto Moto Association (AMSCG). However, as the day progresses, the frequency of vehicles on the roads has increased, leading to potential changes in traffic patterns. It is essential for drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules to ensure a safe journey.

Road Closures and Diversions

On the regional road Đurđevića Tara – Mojkovac, specifically in the town of Sokolovina, traffic has been suspended for all vehicles. From 12:14 onwards, free traffic is provided in the construction site zone, allowing for smoother flow of vehicles. Additionally, on the Nikšić-Vilusi main road, the section between Nikšić and Kuside has transitioned from two-way to one-way traffic, with occasional complete stops lasting no longer than 15 minutes.

Reconstruction Projects Impacting Traffic

Several reconstruction projects are currently underway, impacting traffic flow on major roads in Montenegro. The main road M-2 section between Bijelo Polje and Barski Most, at the border crossing Dobrakovo, has shifted to alternating traffic at the work sites. Similarly, on the main road M-2 section Lepenac-Ribarevina-Poda-Berane, traffic has been diverted from two-way to one-way due to ongoing reconstruction, with occasional suspensions lasting up to 30 minutes.

Changes in Traffic Regimes

Various locations along the main roads in Montenegro have experienced changes in traffic regimes to accommodate construction works. On the main road Nikšić-Vilusi Phase I, at Vukovo Most location, traffic has shifted from two-way to one-way at the work site. Additionally, the traffic regime has been altered from the intersection Podgorica-Cetinje-Nikšić to the Komanski bridge, affecting the flow of vehicles in that area.

Restrictions on Goods Vehicles and Buses

Until September 15, certain restrictions are in place for goods vehicles and buses on specific roads in Montenegro. Goods vehicles exceeding 7.5 tons are prohibited from traveling on the main road Debeli Brijeg-Herceg Novi-Kotor-Tivat-Budva-Bar-Ulcinj-Border crossing Sukobin daily from 17:22 to a specified time. Similarly, restrictions apply to goods vehicles on other main roads and regional roads during this period.

Furthermore, buses of M2 and M3 categories, including light and heavy buses, vans, and camper vans, face restrictions on several regional roads until September 15. These restrictions aim to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of all road users during ongoing construction projects and maintenance works.

Exceptions to the Restrictions

While certain vehicles are subject to restrictions, exceptions apply to vehicles with the right of way, road maintenance and PTT installations, roadside assistance vehicles, special vehicles for transporting specific goods, and vehicles transporting water and dangerous substances in designated areas. It is crucial for drivers to be aware of these exceptions and comply with the regulations to prevent any disruptions in traffic flow.

In conclusion, staying informed about the current traffic conditions and regulations in Montenegro is essential for all drivers. By following the guidelines provided by the AMSCG and exercising caution on the roads, motorists can ensure a smooth and safe journey through the country.
