New boutique store in Carlisle offering high-end women’s fashion brands

The Closet on the Bank, a new addition to Carlisle’s Scotland Road, is making waves with its unique blend of preloved, new, and ’nearly new‘ high-brand ladies‘ clothing and accessories. Founded by former customer service rep Debbie Armstrong and ex-police officer Kath Paterson, the shop aims to fill a gap on Carlisle’s high street while promoting sustainability by reducing waste.

Debbie and Kath first met around seven years ago at Carlisle’s Green Room Theatre, where they both volunteered. Their shared passion for fashion and sustainability led them to create The Closet on the Bank, which opened its doors at the end of July. The shop offers over 300 items of clothing, along with shoes, bags, fascinators, hats, scarfs, and jewellery, catering to special occasions from weddings to Christmas parties.

One of the shop’s unique features is its stock being predominantly sold on commission, giving previously loved items a second lease of life. Debbie emphasizes the importance of reducing waste and providing a service where customers can buy quality items at a fraction of the original price. Brands like Condici, Monsoon, Phase Eight, Coast, and Oasis are stocked at around a third of their original selling price, ensuring affordable luxury for customers.

In addition to offering a wide range of high-quality items, The Closet on the Bank prides itself on providing an honest, efficient, supportive, and friendly environment for customers. Debbie and Kath want everyone who walks through their doors to feel comfortable and satisfied with their shopping experience. The shop’s convenient location, just two doors down from The Crown Pub in Stanwix, offers easy access to Stanwix Car Park and on-street parking served by disc parking.

The response to The Closet on the Bank has been overwhelmingly positive, with many customers expressing their appreciation for the shop’s presence in the area. Debbie and Kath have received numerous compliments on the shop’s window displays and overall ambiance, reinforcing the need for a place like The Closet on the Bank in Carlisle. The shop is currently booked until Christmas, but there are plans to potentially transition into a permanent, larger space if things continue to go well.

For those interested in visiting The Closet on the Bank, the shop is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am to 3pm, Thursdays from 1pm to 7pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 3pm. Customers can also connect with the shop on social media for updates and promotions. With its commitment to sustainability, affordable luxury, and exceptional customer service, The Closet on the Bank is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for fashion-forward individuals in Carlisle.
