PatientPoint, a leading patient engagement company, recently announced an exciting partnership with MyHealthTeam, a social network company. This collaboration aims to enhance the patient experience by providing individuals in over 35,000 PatientPoint locations with the opportunity to connect with others facing similar chronic health conditions. By leveraging MyHealthTeam’s platform, patients can access a network of over 60 patient communities, offering support and valuable information to help them manage their healthcare journey.
PatientPoint’s waiting room and exam room screens now feature messages promoting MyHealthTeam’s platform. Patients can easily join relevant online communities by scanning a QR code on PatientPoint’s devices. This seamless integration allows individuals to engage with other patients, share experiences, and access resources that can assist them in making informed decisions about their health.
During a five-week pilot program, the partnership between PatientPoint and MyHealthTeam saw significant engagement from patients dealing with obesity or diabetes. This positive response highlights the value of connecting patients with supportive communities and empowering them to take control of their health.
Mike Collette, founder and CEO of PatientPoint, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering relevant resources at critical moments in the healthcare journey. He stated that educated and engaged patients are more likely to make informed decisions about their health, ultimately leading to improved outcomes and a better quality of life.
Eric Peacock, co-founder and CEO of MyHealthTeam, highlighted the importance of ongoing support for patients beyond their doctor visits. By making patient communities accessible through PatientPoint’s extensive network of physician offices, individuals can receive timely support, guidance, and education to feel more connected and informed throughout their healthcare experience.
In a larger trend within the healthcare industry, PatientPoint merged with Outcome Health in 2021 to create PatientPoint Health Technologies, focusing on enhancing patient-clinician communications. Additionally, collaborations like the one with the American Medical Association in 2019 have enabled PatientPoint to deliver valuable chronic disease education and engagement content to patients.
MyHealthTeam has also been at the forefront of creating specialized networks for specific health conditions, such as long COVID and multiple sclerosis (MS). The myCOVIDteam tool, developed in partnership with South African payer Discovery, offers individuals with long COVID essential information and support. Similarly, the Family Planning Resource Center within MyMS team provides resources for individuals with MS who are pregnant or planning to conceive, debunking common myths and offering valuable insights.
Overall, the partnership between PatientPoint and MyHealthTeam represents a significant step towards empowering patients, improving health outcomes, and fostering a sense of community and support within the healthcare landscape. By leveraging technology and collaboration, these companies are paving the way for a more patient-centered approach to healthcare delivery.
