Alex Lang, a 27-year-old from Atlanta, was soaring around the pyramids as part of an event organized by Sky One Egypt when a local dog stole the show by being spotted at the top of Rachef’s pyramid, as reported by The Washington Post. The dog casually strolled around the plateau, running and even barking a few times. It seemed like he was trying to scare off the birds to have the magnificent view all to himself, as commented by a surprised paraglider.
Marshall Mosher, one of the organizers of the event, later added that dogs are quite common in the vicinity of the pyramids, but he had never seen one at the very top, despite flying in the area several times before. While dogs sunbathing on the pyramids is a common sight, it usually happens on significantly lower levels. Rachef’s pyramid, although slightly smaller than the largest and most famous Cheops pyramid, still has its highest point over 136 meters above the ground. „But if I were a stray dog from Cairo, I would want to climb up there too,“ Mosher added.
The footage captured by Alex Lang garnered significant attention on the internet. Some people commented that the dog could now tick off another item from its bucket list, while others speculated whether it was Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife, traditionally depicted with a wolf/jackal head, or even as this animal itself. One user lamented the thought of a dog climbing a „monument steeped in history and glory without realizing any of it,“ just to bark at birds at the top. „Animals are simply uncomplicated but amazing creatures,“ the writer concluded their thought.
In a separate story, a small Chihuahua wandered around Las Vegas for nine years before finally making its way back home. The journey of this little dog serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination of our furry friends, who often find their way back to where they belong, no matter how far they roam.
